Faith based organizations (FBO) play an integral role in delivering a wide range of humanitarian services in a variety of ways. For instance, the faith-based organizations are known to fill niches that neither government nor secular social services would have the capacity to fill due to its wide grassroots contacts and networks in addition to its structures which make it easily accessible in times of need. (Monsma 2012). In the recent past, the federal government has continued to support these organizations by allocating funds in form of grants and through initiatives such as the Centre for Faith-based and Neighborhood Partnership and Faith Based & Community Initiatives among others.

In assessing various faith-based initiatives given by the federal government, Faith Based & Community Initiatives seem to stand out. These are because of the services it offers in an efforts to better the lives of American people. For instance, the initiative has yielded even a greater support for the faith-based groups by mobilizing community members, members of the Congress as well as the administration of the United States ( www.hhs.gov n.d)  Presently, through the initiative, the federal government has been able to extend passion and personal touch to an isolated category of persons in the U.S. For example, through Access to Recovery Program (ATR) initiative, the faith-based organizations can now to give over 200,000 vouchers to recovering addicts enabling them to access a wide range of clinical supportive services.( www.hhs.gov n.d)

I think my skills will fit best in promoting the activities of Faith Based & Community Initiatives. This is because it is also concerned with promoting community health services as well as addressing the issue of homelessness. My skills will be therefore involved directly in ensuring community members including low-income individual receive quality medical care. Similarly, I believe my employer might be willing to partner with a faith based organization to help address community needs. This is because the FBOs have a wide range of grass-root networks making them the most suitable avenues through which communal problems can best be solved.
