Part A: General Overview

• Introduction

Project management is the use of specific skills, knowledge, and tools to deliver a valuable product to the people (Project Management Institute 2017). Some projects are required to quickly address problems and also go through significant improvements over time to accurately meet their requirements when it comes to the creation of value (Project Management Institute 2017). All projects have a beginning phase and an end stage. In addition, the projects have a budget, team, schedule, and a set of expectations which should be met by the members of the team. In addition, each project is known to be unique and also varies from the unique operations since the projects will move to its conclusion stage after its anticipated goal is attained. The success rate of a project is gauged based on cost, time and quality (Project Management Institute 2017). Notably, this is summarized by the formulae Project success = min time + min cost + max quality. This paper presents a business project plan management report for HealthTech Global Company, a startup firm which develops AI tools focused on the detection of the medical conditions relying on a wide range of reporting methods. Specifically, the paper documents the projects methodology which the company will use for the project, explores the company’s process of stakeholder management, completes a risk analysis procedure, and estimates the required budget needed to accomplish the project. In addition, the paper documents the necessary steps needed to enhance the quality of the project, how monitoring and control processes are done, the general structure of the project team, and the management of contract. Project planning and budget creation processes for the AI tools are also presented in the report.

2.0 Project Methodology

            A project methodology is the set of guiding processes and principles which are utilised to manage, plan and execute projects (Kerzner 2017). The project management methodology which is chosen by HealthTech is effective in determining how the work involving the development of AI tools is accomplished and prioritized. There are several project methodologies which can be implemented for software projects. According to Project Management Institute (PMI) (2017), there are several methodologies such as PRINCE 2 and agile methodologies among others. PRINCE 2 project methodology is an approach which is process-based and further focuses on the control and organization of the whole project, right from the initiation to the end phase. Through the PRINCE 2 approach, the project is effectively planned before its initiation (Maylor 2011). In addition, each phase of the methodology is structured clearly with the loose ends being tied up before the conclusion of the project’s activities (Jovanovic and Beric 2018). An agile project methodology manages the project by breaking it up into distinct manageable stages (Lock 2018).

            For the AI Tools project at HealthTech, the company will implement the use of the Agile methodology, specifically Scrum, to manage the activities of the project. The chosen methodology is suitable for the current project since it will enable the members of the project team to deliver a successful project outcome by working collaboratively with the stakeholders and guaranteeing a continuous improvement at every phase of the project (Lock 2018). The chosen agile method works by allowing the members of the team to cycle through fundamental processes such as planning, design, launch, which guarantees the delivery of a quality and valuable product (Lock 2018). Figure 1 below is a visual representation of the Agile methodology processes.

            It is recommended that HealthTech should have Jira software in its possession as this will assist with the agile methodology process. According to Budacu and Pocatilu (2018), Jira software offers support to all the agile project management methodology, such as scrum. Looking at the functional scope of the software, it is evident that Jira will offer HealthTech with everything they require from planning, mapping, tracking and management of its individual project.

3.0 Stakeholder Management

            The process of stakeholder management involves the process of organizing, monitoring, and improving the relationship that a person has with the stakeholders (Amadi et al., 2018). The process involves identifying the stakeholders, establishing their needs and expectations and analyzing them. HealthTech’s stakeholders will include financial stakeholders, medical leaders, and the clinicians who are also the end-users. The patients and vendors are also effective stakeholders that HealthTech will consider for its projects. This is summarized in the stakeholder register below.
